Green Giant is a vibrant semi abstract celebration of the iconic prickly pear cactus. Moving beyond traditional botanical art, the piece uses bold acrylic contrasts and rhythmic geometry to highlight the sculptural power of the plant within the Maltese landscape.
The prickly pear (il-bajtra tax-xewk) is an intrinsic part of Malta's rural identity and associated with traditional Maltese stone walls. A symbol of endurance, it is prized for its medicinal properties and its ability to thrive in the harshest sun. In this work, the species represents a silent and powerful presence that defines the character of the island’s countryside.
