Video - Open call for young visual artists

Deadline looms for Malta’s next big artists

Big cash prizes are once again up for grabs in the country’s biggest art prize for school-age artists. Talented local students can win hundreds of euros for themselves, and even more for their school’s art department, but they’ll need to be quick, because the deadline is January 20.

Allura is proud to have been a partner in the Sovereign Art Foundation Student Prize for Malta and Gozo 2023 since it was first established 2017. The Sovereign Art Foundation is a global charity which runs similar art prizes in many other countries.

In this blog post we fill you in on the prizes and how to enter, as we share this year’s Open Call Video. The video features previous prize-winner, local student Ylenia Schembri, in an interview with Allura’s Laura Swale, one of the judges in the competition.

The video also includes a painting demonstration from Ylenia full of tips which other artists may find useful, and which art teachers can use in class as a teaching resource in their lessons.
