Laura Swale

Director of cultural strategy and creative lead

As founder and director of Allura, Laura Swale bridges contemporary visual art and spatial design, creating custom, site-responsive art for architectural spaces and high-profile interiors. She leads Allura’s advisory, commissioning and cultural direction, specialising in spatial concept development, curatorial strategy and integrating bespoke artworks into residential, commercial and hospitality developments.

Laura’s authority is built on an extensive background as a curator, cultural manager, artist and international art educator with 15 years of experience leading visual arts departments. She has served as Cultural Coordinator for the Times of Malta, curated numerous exhibitions and created and presented the Artist Secrets video series, a platform dedicated to uncovering creative processes and championing contemporary visual culture.

In 2016, Laura founded Allura, building it into an award-winning visual arts platform, online gallery and commercial studio. Under her direction, Allura has championed Malta-based artists, facilitating primary art sales and private commissions alongside major commercial projects and site-specific installations for leading developer and hospitality brands, including db Group (for the flagship ORA Residences lobbies), Meliá International Hotels and Malta International Airport VIP Terminal.

In her advisory role, Laura works directly with developers, architects, interior designers and private collectors, identifying creative opportunities within architectural plans, pitching bespoke spatial concepts and shaping the overarching cultural vision for major developments. A published art writer and panel judge for the Sovereign Art Prize, she brings proven curatorial standards, pedagogical perspective and award-winning creative leadership to every engagement.
